Upper Back Pain
Not as many people suffer from upper back pain as from lower back pain. Yet, upper back pain, which is also referred to as "thoracic pain", often occurs in the area between the neck and upper part of the lumbar spine. These numbers about lower back pain are impressive but the really shocking figure is that nine out of ten people experience back pain at least once in their life. If you are working in an office you are maybe one of the five out of ten people who experience back pain annually. Causes of low back pain are usually an injury, overuse of muscles or the surrounding areas like ligaments, facet joints or sacroiliac joints. If your never roots in the spinal canal experience to much pressure you can also suffer from lower back pain. Women with osteoporosis often suffer from lower back pain because of compression fractures which put force on the spine.
Chronic Back Pain
Chronic back pain is a pain that persists over a long period of time. Chronic back pain can not be associated with a particular type of injury, overuse, trauma or diseases like osteoporosis. Reasons are often stress and overweight but in three out of four cases it is impossible to say where chronic back pain is coming from exactly. This makes chronic back pain the most difficult kind of back pain there is. If your physician does not know the source it is very difficult to find a treatment.

Back pain relief can not be found very easy as not all treatments work for all conditions for all individuals. Although there are several ways to get back pain relief you should consult a physician.
